Clouds

While I was driving home with the boys last night, I got to witness first hand the power of keeping silent. We leave the church around 8:40 which has made for some lovely sunsets so far this week. Last night, Venus was visible on the horizon before dark which was a first time experience for me. I actually didn't know it was possible to view it with the naked eye as a planet and not a "star" (after dark), appearing like a tiny moon. I was captivated and tried to direct Wesley's attention to it but I don't think he saw it. Simultaneously, I noticed a cloud that looked like a wolf, with open mouth, ready to chow down on some atmosphere. I didn't say anything about this, I just noticed it. Later on, farther away on the horizon there were two cloud formations opposite each other which appeared as two creatures with open mouths, facing each other. I thought this was a curious happening but was still mostly captivated with Venus until it got too faint on the horizon for me to view it any longer. After this, we drove along in silence and I had nearly forgotten about the clouds until Wesley piped up from the back: "Mama, sometimes clouds look like crocodiles." I was so grateful that I hadn't said anything to him and he was able to make the observation himself. We went on observing the changes and talking about the crocodiles which eventually turned into a single formation as it developed eyes and its gaping jaws elongated over the horizon, becoming quite the spectacle. I was driving, so I didn't get pictures. I'm very grateful for the long drives we get together and the conversations that develop during them! Four years old is so much fun.
